Caged Bird

Related Poem Content Details

A free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

Impresario's Decision

While immortalized in numerous still photographs, no film exists of Nijinsky dancing. Diaghilev never allowed the Ballets Russes to be filmed. He felt that the quality of film at the time could never capture the artistry of his dancers and that the reputation of the company would suffer if people saw it only in short jerky films.

They are now the creatures of Lord Morpheus and continue to live and perform their beauty in his realm.

You are the spirit, you are the perfume
You are the shadow that waltz around my dream

Little Maiden & Little Bird

Little bird little bird, come to me
I have a clean cage already for thee
Many bright flowers I'll bring anew
And fresh ripe cherries, all wet with dew

Thanks little maiden, for all thy care
But I dearly love the clear, cool air
And my snug little nest in the old oak tree
Is better than golden cage for me

Little bird, little bird, where wilt thou go?
When all the fields are buried with snow?
The ice will cover the old oak tree
Little bird, little bird, stay with me!

Ah nay little maiden, away I will fly
To greener fields and warmer sky
When Spring comes back with cheerful rain
My joyful song you will hear again

Little bird, little bird, who will guide thee?
Over the hills and over the sea?
Foolish one, come with me to stay
If you don’t, I’m sure you’ll lose your way

No little maiden, God guides me
Over the hills and over the sea
He made me free as the morning air
To drink sunshine everywhere

This is a poem my mother used to recite for us (my sister and I) when we were little girls. She memorized it from a certain book she had when she was a little girl herself. Since years ago I google many times for this poem, but failed to find it.

To my surprise, with some combination of keywords, eventually Uncle Google showed me some versions of the poem which is also a nursery rhymes. I also found that maybe there is no "original version" since I don't know which one is the most reliable version.
So I stick to my mother's memory with some adjustment.

Apakah ini sesi memadu?

Sesi memadu 1:

Tetesan embun di pucuk kenangan
kutampung dalam genggaman
Kabut yang kaburkan pandangan
kini mengalir jadi gelombang

Sesi memadu 2:

Aku rindu Pengeran Senja
Warnanya merah lembayung jingga
Datang bersama angin, pergi bersama hujan
membawa aku melambung angan

Sesi memadu 3:

I miss the colours of sunset as I miss you
I miss the colours of the ocean as I remember you

I miss the thousand greens that you showed me
Untill one day maybe we'll meet again

The night is too Bright

I need DARKNESS to be my guide

for I get lost in this BLINDING LIGHTS

Lestat de Lioncourt: They make nights brighter than days

Tasya: Jangan takut akan gelap, karna gelap melindungi diri kita dari kelelahan

Lord Of The Ring:
Three Rings for the Elven-Kings under the sky,
Seven for Dwarf-lords in their hall of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the land of Mordor where the Shadows lie

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them and all in the darkness bind them
In the land of Mordor where the Shadows lie

Memories

In the old days, when people had secrets they didn't want to share, they'd climb a mountain. They'd find a tree and carve hole in it, and whisper the secret into the hole then cover it over with mud. That way, nobody else would ever discover it..

I once fell in love with someone. After a while, she wasn't there. I went to 2046. I thought she might be waiting for me there. But I couldn't find her. I can't stop wondering if she loves me or not, but I never found out. Maybe her answer was like a secret that no one else would ever know......

Time and Time Again

Time does nothing
Time changes nothing
Time answers nothing

WE do it to ourselves
WE change our life
and WE find the answers

Wangi Masa Lalu

Aku menyebutnya, wangi masa lalu

Aku kembali menghirup wangi ilalang

It's a Small World

Written by: Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman
It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all

There is just one moon
And one golden sun
And a smile means
Friendship to ev'ryone
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all

It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world

Dari suatu masa

Baru ketemu di buku catatan segala waktu SMA.
Rasanya lucu, ingat-ingat masa dahulu hihi..

Alam Murni

Gemuruh angin kesejukan
Gemuruh air kehidupan
Gemuruh api cahya gulita
Gemuruh bumi, gemuruh hati

Tiupan angin damaiku
Tetesan air hidupku
Percikan api semangatku
Hamparan bumi tanah negeriku

Sebersit rindu di hati
Kapan kan kembali
ke alam nan asri
tempat kasih bersemi

Sedih dan derita
hilang sirna seketika
Kemurnian sejati
Cinta yang abadi

Pertengahan taun 1997 getuh

Lagi "memadu".... =p

Suksesi

Seperti pepatah: Takkan lari gunung dikejar (garing banget ih kalimat pembukaan kaya gini), sebuah gunung bisa tak berubah sampai ratusan tahun.

ON DAYS LIKE THIS

On a day like this, I would love to climb, to the loftiest peak of them all
In the Santa Lucia mountains and sit by a waterfall,
Where all I could see as I turned my head, is the blue of the sea and sky,
A wind torn cloud like a tattered sail, on a ship that is passing by,
To gaze till my eyes have had their fill, and to hark to the glorious sound,
Of the singing birds and the rustling trees, where all the way out is down,
I would love to pose for the painting class, and be painted in all my glory,
With the moss green earth for the attic floor, in the worlds high upper story.

To sit at the very top of the world,
would give me the greatest bliss,
And that is the thing that I'd love to do,
on a glorious day like this.

Loving the Mountains

Oleh: Li Bai
#1
You ask me why I dwell in the green mountain;
I smile and make no reply for my heart is free of care.
As the peach-blossom flows down stream
and is gone into the unknown,
I have a world apart that is not among men.

#2
All the birds have flown up and gone;
A lonely cloud floats leisurely by.
We never tire of looking at each other -
Only the mountain and I.

Oleh: Han-shan
I climb the path to Cold Mountain,
the path that never ends.
The valleys are long and strewn with stones.
The moss is slippery though no rain has fallen.
The pines sigh but there is no wind.
Who can break from the dusty snares of the world
and sit with me among the white clouds?
